Things have changed since I started this blog. An explanation for one of the long absences over the past few months was the unexpected passing of my incredibly amazing father. It’s been 10 months and I still can’t believe that happened. I miss him every day. I get pissed off, I get sad and burst into tears, I vent to my sisters and mom and I snuggle with my doggie who is the best furry friend to make you smile in a crappy moment. And the incredible friends and family who support you through all this shit. And it is just absolute SHIT. Unfair and unexplainable and you’re just supposed to ‘go on’. WTF
After that I ended up getting a new job suddenly about 2 months ago… in San Francisco. So then I spent all my days quitting my old job, apartment hunting in one of the lowest vacancy rate times, set up movers, made lists…. oh so very many lists and prepped for, yet another, life changing adventure. This one in the much more ‘positive’ direction. Many days I forget I’ve ‘moved’ here but I’m settling in. Bit by bit. Box by box. Friends and family have been amazing and supportive from day 1. My new job is going GREAT and a wonderful and welcomed change to what I’ve been doing for so long.
I’m still making (and drinking) martinis but I’m not wearing my flip flops as much up here…trying my best as often as I can! So now my posts might be a bit norcal focused, but we’ll see. I’ll just share my new experiences and tips & tricks to this place. Composting will have a starring role soon in a post…hippies 🙂
That’s all for now…hope all is well with you!
I’ve been thinking about creating this blog for some time… probably a little late in the game compared to many others, but alas, The Flip Flop Contessa has arrived!
Many of my friends and family have asked me to help them learn to cook, for opinions on shopping and restaurants and many times I’ve been called a “walking zagat guide”. So I’ve decided to publish my thoughts, opinions, rants, recommendations and lessons learned. You don’t have to agree or even like anything I write, but I’m going to try to keep it fun, fresh and hopefully make you laugh a couple times too.
My favorite things in life are food, family, friends, my dog, wine, martinis, travel, men and shopping… no particular order, but depending on the day certain favs might jump higher than the other. I’m a 37 year old, born and raised Cali girl that’s living smack in the middle of LA. I love this city. You can do anything and get anywhere in a matter of minutes.
Ok, so how did this come about. I quit my job and after only 1 week of unemployment I’m BORED!! I woke up at 4:30am this morning and decided it was time to ‘blog’.
I have to thank my family and friends for inspiring me to start this. Probably should have started it 2 years ago when my dear friend Sandy came up with my blog title. Thanks Sandy!
Any and all comments and recos from you are welcome. I’m stoked to be doing this and I hope you all enjoy it!
